I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist with 14 years’ experience of working with children, young people and families. I have worked extensively within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services within the NHS, Children In Care teams within the Local Authority and in independent practice. I am passionate about improving the outcomes for children and young people and work with the aim to alleviate emotional distress, strengthen family relationships, empower and promote healing from difficult experiences.
I offer specialist assessment and therapeutic input to children and young people who are presenting with emotional distress, which might be affecting their wellbeing, behaviour, friendships, education and family life. I have worked with a range of difficulties, specialising in: attachment insecurities; anxiety; emotional and behavioural difficulties; self-esteem and trauma. I also can provide therapeutic parenting support.
Within my practice, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Attachment based models, Compassion Focused Therapy and Family Therapy.
I like to use a friendly, creative and often playful approach such as using play, drawing and activities to engage with children. I work in an empathic way to understand the needs and challenges faced for a child within the context of their life experiences, developmental stage and abilities. I also often welcome parents and/or carers to be part of the work when it feels appropriate.
