Clinical Psychologist

Dr Sophie Wicks Clinical Psychologist

I am a qualified clinical psychologist and have worked for many years within the NHS and more recently in private practice. I have worked predominantly within Adult Mental Health and Intellectual Disability settings. I offer therapy to individuals who may be experiencing a range of difficulties including: trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship/attachment difficulties, bereavement, life transitions and behavioural challenges. I am experienced in a range of psychological therapies which I use integratively, based on individual need.

I am passionate about my work and committed to supporting every individual I meet. I think it takes incredible bravery to venture into therapy and those who do so should be commended for taking these first steps. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is integral to therapy being effective – for this reason I work hard to build trust, using a non-judgmental and compassionate approach. I feel that therapy should be a collaborative process – whilst I may have expertise in psychological approaches, the individual is the expert of their own life and therefore I encourage people to play an active role in the work we do together.
