Clinical Psychologist

Dr Katrina Bayliss

As a Clinical Psychologist I have worked with people of all ages, with a range of challenges and from a variety of different backgrounds. I have worked with young children and their parents, with teenagers, and with adults - all learning to navigate and cope with the variety of difficult things life has a habit of throwing at us. In my current NHS role I work with people over the age of 65 to help them manage the constant changes of life that don’t stop just because you reach a certain age.

In the therapy room I believe it is important to meet someone where they are now while also looking forwards to where someone wants to be, even if the first step is discovering where that ‘somewhere’ is. I am a strong believer in the idea of “both” - a full life is both hard and good, with both joy and sadness. Learning to navigate these ups and downs is often the tricky part and I find that, once people learn ways to embrace both, life becomes so much more meaningful and fulfilling. I enjoy helping people find ways of living alongside life’s hardships whilst also truly enjoying life’s highlights – embracing both. I think it’s important to work together with you to find new ways of coping with old problems as well as finding a way forwards – wherever you discover that to be.
