Clinical Psychologist

Dr Katrina Bayliss

I qualified from the University of Oxford with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy). I work both privately and in the NHS as a Clinical Psychologist, which allows me to offer specialist psychological support across a range of settings.

The bravest step I see people make is reaching out for help in the first place. I make sure to offer a safe, understanding, and non-judgemental space where I will work with you in a collaborative, person-centered way to help you make the most of our work together. I ensure to work from the best-practice guidance and evidence base so that the support you have with me is as safe and effective as can be. I have now studied and worked in psychology for many years and my experience has meant that I've met and worked with a wide range of people facing various challenges. I care deeply about my work, and ensure to show every client I work with the respect and care they deserve. I've had the privilege to see clients heal and change when they're accessing the support they need in a safe space.

My training has meant that I've worked with people across the lifespan, ranging from young children and new parents, all the way to older adults. I'm also experienced in working with individuals who are neurodiverse (e.g. Autism or ADHD), have a learning disability, or neurological conditions (e.g. acquired brain injury, dementia). I can work with individuals, couples, and families.

I primarily work in an "integrative" way, meaning I tailor the models and approaches to your needs and style. It can be confusing to know what support you need, so this is something we will talk through together during your assessment, to determine which approach would be most helpful for you. I'm mainly informed by cognitive, behavioural, attachment/developmental, and compassion-focused approaches. As a clinical psychologist, I'm also trained to offer CBT (Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy) at Level 2 with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), and foundation-level Systemic Family Therapy with the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFT)."
